Can someone explain in brief as why the auto(car) insurance for every 6 months is HIGHER compared to a home(townhome) insurance for 6 months.

Say, today is 1st Feb’09. I had an auto policy (from Farmers) that expired on 1st Jan’09. Today, I buy a new policy from a different insurance company(AAA).
When I discontinue service with Farmers, am I bound to show the new insurance policy to them? Also, will I get charged for the period from 1st Jan’09 to 31st Jan’09 by Farmers?

I got an Insurance Policy on myself June 27,1951, I turned 21 in Sept. of that year ..it was Pd.-up on 06/30/71, It was a 20 year Payment Life. I will be 76 Friday, Sept. 29 and would like to find out what the cash value is. It is with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company Boston Mass. I was in a car accident about 1 1/2 months after I got my new health insurance coverage. I didn’t have personal injury protection on my auto insurance policy so i’m billing my health insurance for the costs.
Anyways they just sent me a letter saying that the services occurred within the waiting period of the policy therefore this claim is pending for receipt of physicians report.
What does all this mean? Can they deny the coverage?
